How we score apps
Every app on AppCyder gets a score out of 5 cyders. It is our opinion, not an average, and we would rather explain it than ask you to trust it.
Where the number comes from
We start with the public scores an app has earned across G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, the app stores and Product Hunt, and we link to them on every review so you can check our reading. Then we adjust for the things a star average hides:
- — Billing behaviour: charges after cancellation, refund walls, auto-renewal traps.
- — Changes after purchase: quotas cut, plans discontinued, prices raised mid-contract.
- — Whether the thing still exists, still ships, and still belongs to the same company.
- — Lawsuits, regulatory action and documented safety failures.
- — Whether something cheaper now does the same job, which is often a $20 assistant.
Business review sites and consumer review sites frequently disagree about the same product by three points or more. That gap is usually billing, and we treat it as information rather than noise.

Buy it. We would pay for this ourselves.
Good, with caveats you should read before paying.

Hard to recommend. Most people should look elsewhere.

A review site where nothing scores badly is a catalogue. Here is how the 56 apps we cover actually land.
What the score is not
It is not a measure of how much we earn. Several apps we make nothing from score above apps that run affiliate programs, and a few tools with good commission rates score badly because they treat customers badly. We also do not claim to have used every app for months. Where a review is built from published reporting and public reviews rather than our own use, that is what it says.
Quotes from other publications are reproduced exactly, kept short, attributed and linked. If we could not verify a quote against its source, it is not on the page.
