The voices

ElevenLabs wins on raw output. Intonation, breath, emotion and the handling of unusual words are all better, and the gap is audible on any script longer than a sentence. If the voice is going in front of customers, this is the one that does not make them wince.

Murf's voices are good rather than best, and for corporate training, explainers and internal video that is usually sufficient.

The workflow

This is Murf's case. It is a studio: paste the script, pick the voice, sync it to slides or video, adjust pace and emphasis on a timeline, have someone in marketing operate it without help. Teams that need a voiceover on Thursday and do not have a developer get that done in Murf faster.

ElevenLabs is more of a voice engine with an interface attached. Excellent API, deep control, and more assembly required.

The commercial traps

Murf's is contractual: no refunds after twenty-four hours on auto-renewing plans, and at least one team reporting a renewal quote thousands of dollars higher after a usage-limit reassessment. Read what your usage tier actually permits before the renewal, not after.

ElevenLabs has a consumer experience well below its B2B scores, sitting around 3.0 on Trustpilot against much stronger enterprise reviews. And its safety controls have been publicly bypassed, including by journalists cloning voices the platform said were blocked. There is also a putative biometric privacy class action filed in Illinois in May 2026 by voice professionals and journalists alleging voiceprints were taken from third-party recordings without consent, and an earlier voice-actor suit that settled confidentially in 2025.

If you work with voice talent, those cases are worth reading before you clone anybody, including yourself.

How we would buy it
