HubSpot AI
AI tools built into HubSpot CRM
HubSpot AI is the AI layer built into HubSpot's all-in-one CRM, marketing, sales, and customer service platform. Features include AI Content Assistant (generate emails, blog posts, and landing page copy), ChatSpot (conversational AI chatbot for CRM data), predictive lead scoring, smart content personalization, and email optimization. The free CRM tier includes basic features, with paid plans scaling from Starter at $20/month to Enterprise at $3,600/month. HubSpot's standout feature for affiliates is the 180-day cookie duration and tiered commission structure (up to 100% for top performers). For B2B companies and marketing teams already using HubSpot, the AI features are a natural add-on to an already powerful platform.

What changed, and what we found later
Rated 2026-09-16. Every note below was added after that date. Some are things the vendor changed since; others are older events we only turned up in a later pass. Each is dated by when it happened, not by when we found it, so a date earlier than the rating means we missed it first time round. They stay here rather than being quietly folded into the review.

HubSpot changed its terms on July 1, 2026 to auto-enroll customers into cross-account sharing of enrichment data and AI model training, requiring manual opt-out; it reversed and apologized by July 5 after community backlash.

What it actually does
HubSpot AI is the AI layer sitting inside HubSpot's CRM, marketing, sales and service platform. The Content Assistant drafts emails, blog posts and landing page copy. ChatSpot answers questions about your CRM data conversationally. There is predictive lead scoring, smart content personalization, email optimization and SEO recommendations.
Breeze is the current brand for most of this, with Breeze Copilot as the assistant and Breeze Intelligence as the data enrichment piece. The genuine advantage is location: the AI lives in the CRM your sales team already opens every morning, so there is no second tool to roll out. The integration catalogue runs past 1,500 apps and paid tiers get 24/7 support.
What it costs
Free CRM with limited AI features, then Starter at $20 a month, Professional at $890, Enterprise at $3,600.
Seat pricing is only half the bill. The AI runs on credits, and they drain faster than teams expect: roughly 100 credits per Copilot conversation and about 10 credits per Breeze Intelligence enrichment. Teams report hitting credit exhaustion or overage charges without warning. Credit definitions have also shifted, with Breeze credits rebadged as HubSpot credits.
The worse trap is the contract. Bills auto-increase as marketing contact volume grows but never auto-decrease when it shrinks. Seats cannot be removed mid-term. Renewal quotes arrive with large increases nobody requested, and one team reports going from $4,000 a month to $6,500 with seats and contacts added they did not ask for. Downgrades and mid-term exits get refused, including when the customer says the contract was mis-sold. Forbes Advisor's assessment is that advanced sales and marketing tools "are hidden behind separate subscriptions or Hubs, which makes it an outrageously expensive platform."
Where it falls down
HubSpot's own admins are the harshest critics of Breeze Copilot. The recurring description is that it is useless in practice, one calling it "hot garbage". The reported failures are specific: it does not hold context across a contact record, and its generated copy needs rewriting before anyone can send it. For an assistant whose entire pitch is that it sits inside your CRM data, losing the thread on a single contact record is the failure that matters.
Breeze Intelligence draws a related complaint. Users report enrichment returning data the team already had, an email address and a phone number, and little else, so the credits are spent for nothing.
Then there is the repackaging. Features customers already had were quietly swept into credit-metered Breeze, which turned included functionality into metered AI spend. HubSpot partners flag AI fields as a hidden fee risk. That is the part to be angry about: not a new product priced highly, but existing capability moved behind a meter.
The review evidence for the AI itself is thin. The G2 Breeze page shows 4.3 but only 5-star and 4-star buckets appear, so the sample is small and probably early adopters. HubSpot overall sits at 4.4 across 35,981 G2 reviews and TechRepublic gave the CRM 4 out of 5, saying HubSpot "remains a top-rated CRM for customer support and integration capabilities". Note what those numbers describe. The platform is well liked. The AI layer is a separate question and lock-in is the dominant theme in r/hubspot.
Who should buy it
Teams already committed to HubSpot Professional or Enterprise, where the AI is an incremental cost rather than the reason to sign. If the CRM earns its keep on pipeline management and reporting, treat any useful AI output as a bonus and do not pay extra for credits until you have measured what you actually consume.
Do not buy HubSpot because of the AI. On the reported evidence Copilot will not do the work the demo implies, and the credit meter turns experimentation into spend. Small teams should stay on the free CRM, which is unusually capable, and pair it with a standalone writing tool at a fraction of the price. Anyone negotiating a new contract should get contact-tier decreases, seat reductions and renewal caps in writing first, because none of those are available to you afterward.
Our verdict
2.5DrinkableHubSpot's own admins call Breeze Copilot useless in practice, and the credits burn invisibly at around 100 per conversation. Features teams already had were folded into metered AI, bills rise automatically with contact volume but never fall, and seats cannot be removed mid-term. The CRM may be worth it. The AI layer is not what you are paying for.
