Jasper vs Copy.ai
Two AI copywriting platforms, both far pricier than the models underneath them.
Last revised 2026-09-17
Our pick
Neither. Use ChatGPT or Claude and keep the difference
Jasper writes decent marketing copy at roughly three times the price of the assistant it is built on, and has an open BBB file about billing. Copy.ai advertises a G2 score from a listing that has been removed, sits at 1.8 on Trustpilot, and has been absorbed into a RevOps platform where self-serve jumps from its entry plan straight to four figures. Neither is a sane default in 2026.
Claude (Anthropic): Writes better copy than either, at a fraction of the seat price.

What you are paying for
Both of these are interfaces on top of the same general models you can rent directly for $20 a month. What they add is brand voice settings, campaign templates, team workflow and a library of prompts dressed as features. For a marketing team that genuinely runs dozens of campaigns through a shared voice, that wrapper can save real hours.
For everyone else it is a markup on something you already have.
Jasper
Jasper is the better of the two and it is not close. The output is competent, the brand voice feature does what it says, and the review sites like it: 4.7 on G2. The problems are commercial rather than editorial. Trustpilot sits at 3.2, mostly from people who tried to cancel, and the BBB profile shows sixteen complaints over three years, half of them billing, with fourteen left unanswered by the company.
Unanswered is the word doing the work there. A vendor can have billing disputes. Ignoring most of them is a choice.
Copy.ai
Copy.ai still advertises a 4.9 out of 5 on G2 while its G2 listing has been removed. Trustpilot has it at 1.8 across nearly two hundred reviews, and the recurring complaints are support that does not answer, logins that break, and an update that wiped saved prompts and projects.
It was acquired by Fullcast in October 2025 and repositioned as part of a go-to-market platform. Self-serve pricing now starts at an entry chat plan and jumps to a four-figure monthly Growth tier with metered workflow credits. The cheap writer tiers people signed up for are gone.
The test that settles it
Take the brief you would give Jasper. Give it to Claude or ChatGPT with your brand guidelines pasted in, and compare the output with what the template produces. Almost everyone who runs this test honestly finds the difference is workflow, not writing, and that they do not need the workflow.
If you do need it, and a shared brand voice across a team of writers is a real need, Jasper is the one to trial. Monthly, with a calendar reminder before it renews.
How we would buy it
- •Solo writer, freelancer, small business: neither. Claude for the writing, $20.
- •Marketing team of five or more running shared campaigns: trial Jasper monthly, watch the renewal date, keep the cancellation confirmation.
- •Already paying Copy.ai: check what tier you are on and what the next renewal looks like after the Fullcast repositioning.
- •Wanting SEO-driven content specifically: neither of these. That is a different category and a different comparison.
Jasper AI
2.5DrinkableJasper writes fine marketing copy, and it costs roughly three times ChatGPT for output built on the same underlying models. The review sites love it (4.7 G2) and the people who tried to cancel do not (3.2 Trustpilot, an open BBB file about billing). Pay for it only if the brand-voice and campaign templates genuinely save your team hours, and set a calendar reminder before it renews.

2.0FlatCopy.ai still advertises "4.9/5 on G2" while its G2 listing has been removed, and Trustpilot has it at 1.8 from 196 reviews. The recurring story is support that never answers, logins that break, and an update that wiped saved prompts and projects. There is no version of this we would hand a credit card to.
