Gamma
AI-powered presentation and document generator
Gamma is the best AI presentation generator available. Type a prompt like 'Create a pitch deck for a SaaS startup' and Gamma generates a complete, beautifully designed presentation with slides, content, and visual layout. Unlike PowerPoint or Google Slides, which require you to design each slide, Gamma handles the design automatically — you just provide the content. The Plus plan at $10/month includes unlimited AI credits and PPTX export, while the Pro at $20/month adds advanced customization and team features. While it's not a full PowerPoint replacement (limited slide-by-slide control), for anyone who needs to create professional presentations quickly — sales professionals, consultants, startup founders, students — Gamma is the fastest path from idea to beautiful deck. The web presentation sharing feature is excellent for remote presentations.

What changed, and what we found later
Rated 2026-09-16. Every note below was added after that date. Some are things the vendor changed since; others are older events we only turned up in a later pass. Each is dated by when it happened, not by when we found it, so a date earlier than the rating means we missed it first time round. They stay here rather than being quietly folded into the review.

Gamma's free tier is a one-time 400-credit allowance that never refills, free users must earn credits by referral or upgrade, and paid plans are metered credit allocations (Plus 1,000, Pro 4,000, Ultra 20,000 per month) with purchasable top-ups.
Gamma Help Center
What it actually does
You type something like "a pitch deck for a SaaS startup" and Gamma produces a complete presentation with content, layout, imagery and typography in seconds. It also generates one-page documents and simple webpages, with a template library, collaboration, and export to PPTX, PDF or a shareable web link.
The prompt-to-deck output is genuinely best-in-class. Decks come out looking intentionally designed rather than auto-generated, and the native format is a scrollable web card layout that works as a live link you can update after sending. If your delivery method is a URL, this is a good product and the speed is real.
What it costs
Free gives limited AI credits and basic export. Plus is $9 to $10 a month depending on the plan page you land on, with 1,000 monthly credits, and Pro is $20.
The free tier has a catch that catches almost everyone. The 400 credits are one-time, not monthly. Futureproof Marketer put it directly in an August 2026 review: "The free tier's 400 credits are one-time, not monthly. Regenerating sections burns them fast." Since iterating on a deck means regenerating sections repeatedly, you hit the paywall in the middle of the work with no warning that the meter was finite. Free exports also carry watermarks, so what you make while evaluating is not something you can send.
Plus at $9 with 1,000 monthly credits is decent value if you share links, and poor value if you need files.
Where it falls down
PowerPoint export is the dominant complaint and it is structural. The same Futureproof Marketer review found that if you "export a Gamma deck to .pptx" then "formatting shifts, fonts substitute, and animations break." Users who must hand over a file end up rebuilding the deck by hand in PowerPoint, which erases the entire time saving that justified the subscription. This will not be fixed by a patch, because Gamma's card layout does not map onto fixed PowerPoint slides. The formats are different shapes.
The polish also hides thin content. Generated figures and claims need checking line by line, and a deck that looks finished invites less scrutiny than a rough one, which is exactly backwards. Design control is limited, with no precise font sizing and no exact brand templates, and long-term users say every Gamma deck ends up looking like a Gamma deck. Customer service complaints dominate the one-star Trustpilot reviews, alongside reports of sudden pricing and feature changes that were not announced.
The scores tell the story twice. G2 sits at 3.9 out of 5 from 37 reviews, read directly in September 2026, and even that includes 13% at one star against 64% five-star. Trustpilot shows a TrustScore of "Bad" at roughly 1.5, with a paginated listing showing 1.7, across 123 reviews. We saw the Trustpilot badge and count in search listings only, since direct extraction was blocked, and the G2 sample of 37 is small. But the split itself is the buying signal: people sharing links rate it well, people delivering files and people hitting the credit wall rate it badly.
Who should buy it
Founders, consultants and salespeople whose decks get sent as a link and read on a screen. That is the use case Gamma was built for, and inside it the product is fast and good-looking. Plus at $9 is the plan to buy.
Do not buy it if your deliverable is a .pptx that a client will edit, which covers most corporate and agency work. Stay in PowerPoint or Google Slides, because rebuilding a broken export costs more time than it saved. Do not plan a project around the free tier, since 400 one-time credits will not survive a real revision cycle. And if brand-exact typography is a requirement, this tool cannot do it.
Our 2.5 reflects a product that is excellent at one delivery method and broken at the one most buyers need. Note that rival Tome shut down its slides product in 2025, so some of Gamma's position is attrition rather than merit.
Our verdict
2.5DrinkableGamma makes better-looking decks faster than PowerPoint and its own web format is genuinely nice. Export to .pptx breaks fonts, formatting and animations, which matters because that is how most decks actually get delivered, and the free 400 credits are one-time rather than monthly. G2 says 3.9, Trustpilot says about 1.5.
